World Watch Tasha's World
05.01.2007 |

Living between London and Rotterdam, this young lady started singing before she could even speak. Her musical influences include greats such as Quincy Jones, Bob Marley, Anita Baker & Curtis Mayfield to name but a few. TW’s musical journey has been one of continuous growth. In 2002 Tasha’s World signed to The Klinik Music Productions who are proud to have a genuine quality artist such as Tasha’s World representing European Soul music! TW is an accomplished singer/songwriter and this is evident when you listen to her intense thought-provoking lyrics. She has written the large majority of her songs but is not afraid to open up to other writers who understand her style and who she is. Almost all of the songs are written on the same day of recording so this can truly be called organic soul.

TW’s musical journey has seen her perform before thousands of people around the world. South Africa (North Sea Jazz) in Cape Town, North Sea Jazz in The Netherlands, SOB’S New York, Eritrea for the United Nations, Sofia Jazz Peak in Bulgaria, Jazz Café, London on three occasions. Her first album was released in Japan before it had a European release such is the way of music that even in her own country they had to import the album from Japan. One of her first live performance under her UK management was a was at the Jill Scott official after party at The Paradiso in Amsterdam on 22/23 February, 2002. Jill Scott stood and watched with disbelief, Jill Scott sang along and clapped after every track. When the show was over she screamed "More…More" and waited to greet Tasha’s World after the show since then she had performed at over 150 concerts around the world.

At beginning of the 2003, Echoes Magazine voted the Tasha’s World album as one of its Top 25 Of The Year. It also voted the track “Stalker” from the album as one of its Top 10 Tracks of the Year. In addition to this, the album was also voted by Chris Wells, Editor of Echoes magazine as one of his Top Five Albums of the Year. The album was also voted by Dave Cee of www.soul24-7.com online radio station, as his Album of the Year.

Tasha’s World’s follow-up album entitled World Domination was recorded in London at the world famous Phoenix Sound studios in Wembley, London which has now been knocked down due to the development of the new Wembley Stadium and also at Future Sound Studios in the fashionable Islington area of London. It follows the same tried and tested formula of her debut album awash with soulfulness and breathtakingly strong powerful lyrics and harmonies from one of Europe’s most interesting artist.

This album delivers some real standout tracks like "Past Lives" a story of everlasting love which transcends time and ends up in the present day, the uplifting and upbeat "Glowing (Growing)", the beautiful “Jah Bless", the thought provoking "Home Alone", "Move Ya Hips", "Fed Up" and the powerfully dramatic "What Must I Be". World Domination draws on the old and the new of music, which typifies the new sound of Tasha’s World. In doing this we made a wonderful blend of music that makes you feel as if you know it even though you are hearing it for the first time. The shift in sound is called “Old Skool, Nu Skool”. Nu Soul is dead! Long live “Old Skool, Nu Skool”.

One listen to Tasha's World's World Domination, and you will clearly hear her distinctive, warm, strong tones over classic soul music. You will hear evidence of her musical influences both lyrically and musically, which include the, the haunting style of Billie Holiday, the musical excellence of Quincy Jones. Their ability to write incredible touching and moving lyrics…..their ability to make music that would make you slow grind, or tap your feet or simply music that exudes good vibes to make you feel this is what Tasha’s World is all about. This is truly organic soul, no samples but every note is played by quality musicians.

The passion and hair-tingling emotions within extend to those who see and hear her. TW is free in mind and spirit and soul and gives the audience everything they want in a live performance....Strong, Powerful and Righteous (or honesty, warmth and energy.) The ultimate goal being to keep real music alive and kicking! From her travels of performing around the world, Natascha has gained fans from the likes of Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Amp Fidler, T.Y. and Rahsan Patterson. All of this was accomplished on the back of the first album and great live shows. With this album “World Domination”, we expect TW to reach an even wider and more varied audience.

The past few years has seen Tasha’s World receive a Nat West Emma Award (UK), a Silver Harp (NL), The Essent Award (NL) and rave reviews in some of the most respected international music magazines. An upcoming performance for the world-renowned charity War Child, a publishing contract signed with Chrysalis Music and so much more….the future for Tasha’s World is definitely long term, with or without huge chart success.
