Whether you are familiar with him or not, Def Jam artist Big K.R.I.T. (King Remembered In Time) could have successfully packaged his free album, ReturnOf4Eva, and sold it on the shelves at your nearest Target for $14.99. Yet to him, it's about the music and the money. He joins a Southern roster which includes UGK, Eightball & MJG, Outkast, and Three 6 Mafia, all apparent musical inspirations to the Meridian, Mississippi native. Like the aforementioned artists (who are still respected in the hip hop struggle), his rhymes speak on topics other than pimping and profiling. More prevalent than anything is Big K.R.I.T.'s professed dedication to the rap game. It would be easier to tell you the songs I did not appreciate as opposed to the ones I do, but I'm eager to share some of my instant favorites. Dreamin, American Rapstar, R4 Theme Song, Sookie, and Lions and Lambs are just a few in my personal rotation. Maybe I am a bit partial because the South is in my blood, but in my opinion, Big K.R.I.T. surpasses the hype. A reincarnate of Pimp C? Could be, but he performs quite well. And even if it takes all 3 minutes for the listener to comprehend what he is saying, it's worth the time spent. So what are you waiting on? Go on and re-introduce yourself to some trill country sh........
