Norfolk based producer/emcee Nottz brings the world his debut studio album, You Need This Music. Known for producing tracks for artists like Rah Digga, Black Milk and Mayer Hawthorne, Nottz keeps the momentum going on his own project. This album is filled with his strong lyrical deliverance and smooth production. He combines his skills as an emcee with several artist, ranging from Travis Barker, Dwele, Joel Ortiz, Asher Roth, Bilal, and more. Everything sets to place with the first track, Intro, where he masterfully flows from start to finish over Travis Barker's percussion. The overall tone of this album is hip hop with a mild soul vibe. The title track, You Need This Music , represents what he is trying to say with this album; that his music is what hip hop is missing. One of my favorite songs has to be A Dream Come True, as it refers to a perfect dream with several musical experiences and all of the fallen musical greats. Another favorite of mine has to be Dontcha Wanna Be (My Neighbor), which features Asher Roth and Colin Munroe who along with Nottz deliver a solid lyrical track. The album ends on a good note with Right Here. Bilal's vocals carry this song to where it needs to be and mixes well with Nottz's production. Overall, this is a steady hip hop album with great content, collaborations and top notch production. It's definitely "needed". Support this artist today!
