Artist Scott Mescudi, also known as Kid Cudi, arrived on the musical scene and quickly aligned himself with well-respected lyricists such as Consequence and Kanye West. Critics expected nothing but the best from this new hip hop sensation since he was openly embraced by such an exceptional circle. However, Man on The Moon: The End of The Day consisted of wonderful orchestration, lackluster lyrics, sedated delivery, and was met with mixed reviews when it was released in 2009. Little over a year later, Cudi decided to try it again. Man on The Moon 2: The Legend of Mr. Rager is a definite step up from its predecessor. The production is once again all there, and Cudi is still determined to deliver the majority of his rhymes harmonically. The revenant theme is what he feels as opposed to what is appropriate, but the concepts are much easier to grasp this time around. Not a fan of critics, the album opener "Scott Mescudi vs. The World" (guest starring Cee Lo Green) and "Please Don't Play This Song" reiterate Cudi's stand that he doesn't care if you get it or not. "Mojo So Dope" was the album's commercial release, but "Ashin' Kusher" stands more by his motto of raging against the machine musically. With this latest release, Kid Cudi assures you that he is out there somewhere in the atmosphere, so maybe you're not supposed to get it. But for those who do, and if it feels real to you, meet him on the other side.
