My Mini Playlist Of The Day
80
I must admit, it's been a while since I've been inspired to write about music. You would think that I've taken a sabbatical from listening to the radio but that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, between Pandora.com, Youtube.com and listening to radio stations in the car, I find myself listening to more smooth R&B music than I normally would. I don't know if I'm at a musical crossroads where I'm finding myself or just feeling more sensitive than normal. Regardless of what mood I'm in lately, there are certain artists that just do it for me. They manage to remove me from my funk and put me in a place that I can appreciate. Whether it's a place of solitude, gratitude, thankfulness or sensuality; music has a way of allowing me to escape my current situation, if only for a moment.

Today I'm focusing on music with a nostalgic feel. Songs in the past taught us how to love, how to show affection and how to express ourselves sexually with a certain amount of discretion. There are certain artists and songs that continuously take me to a place of musical enjoyment by feeling my heart and mind with thoughts I normally wouldn't explore. Many of the songs that I consider classics have dual meanings which is what makes them so great. Whether these songs are older than I am (I'm 32) or not, they are special to me for the reason that I need them to be at that particular moment. Either my parents listened to them, I listen to them and if my children are lucky enough to inherent my musical tastes, they will enjoy them as well.
