Parisian producer Onra returns with another album Long Distance. The overall theme of this album was the 80’s music movement. He covered all aspects of it genuinely, from the synthesizers to the innovative bass lines. Onra samples vocals, and tweak them throughout certain songs in unique ways that would become the hook, or become an extension of the track. My Comet initially jump starts the album with a mesh of hip hop and 80’s R&B. The vibe seems to intensify with the 80’s feeling as it continues to play on. One of the tracks that are distinctly noticeable is the remake of S.O.S’s High Hopes. He still instills the vibe of the original while still making it his own. Onra collaborates with Slum Village’s T3 in The One, which provides potent lyrics and heavy beat machine production. The collaboration plays a healthy part to the album with artist like Olivier DaySoul, Reggie B, T3, Buddy Sativa, and Walter Mecca. They add onto his production, and make the tracks hit your eardrums even more. My favorite track was the self titled track Long Distance; it reminded me of a track that would have been played in the 80’s. Onra provides the listeners the feeling that the 80’s had to their production, and this album just became an extension of his work. If you are a fan of the 80’s, or just want something different to listen to this summer, check out Onra’s Long Distance today!
