Eternia and MoSS' At Last, might be a little too much for some. Definitely not for the faint at heart, or for the overly sensitive. The lyrics are so true, that you would believe that you were the one that was experiencing every single moment being conveyed. With songs such as "Pass That", "Dear Mr. Bacardi", and my favorite, "To The Past", you receive an inside look into Eternia's upbringing: sex, drugs, alcoholism, and abuse. All she has to rely on is her faith in God and her music. Although she's not telling you so that you can feel sorry for her, you can't help but feel a tug at your heart and the opening of your ears to hear what she has to say. Her song, "The BBQ", featuring Rah Digga and Lady of Rage, is an energitic message that shows why the female emcess, while underrated, are some of the illest in the game. Joell Ortiz drops his thoughts on the Lauryn Hill sampled track, "Its Funny", and the two of them together is pure, musical genius. Eternia has a way of grabbing the attention of her audience, telling them like it is, and sending them on their way. Like it or not, Eternia is a beast in these streets and on vinyl.
I'd be negligent if I didn't touch on Moss' production skills. His ability to mix down samples, produce beats, and create an experience through Eternia is fantastic. While Eternia's lyrics are hard pressed, entertaining, and very much an inside look to who she is, Moss brings the heat. Its almost like you can sit and listen to the beats on an album and still feel the message. He does a very good job of taking the listener through an emotional journey with tracks from "32 Bars" to "Goodbye". My bet is that Moss will continue to grow and will be more recognized, if his stamp hasn't been made already.
At Last is not a club banger. This isn't for those who listen to the hood songs and like to jerk or soulja boy. No..this is for those who understand the meaning of being open. For those one who do not settle for less. This is for those, like me, who may not have grown up in "rough" circumstances, but understand that if someone who HAS actually come from that evironment can make themselves better, then I have no excuse not to be successful. This is the real deal, Holyfied.
Dear Eternia, Thank you.
