The Ballad of Purple Saint James is the latest musical effort from vocal artist Yahzarah. Equipped with production by Nicolay and Phonte (The Foreign Exchange), Yahzarah is blessed with an exceptional musical palette to create her own definitive sound and introduce the world to Purple Saint James, her soulful alter ego. The album opens with Love Come Save The Day, an upbeat single which immediately establishes the subject matter, and sets the tone of what's to come. Love is the ongoing theme, but it doesn't overpower the music, or the vocalist. She admits to shortcomings over Have a Heart, a musical arrangement reminscent of an Isley Brothers classic. Shadow and Last to Leave both melodically transition the listener to a moment of deep reflection, making it hard to miss Yahzarah's sincerity, or her pain. Come Back As A Flower is a personal favorite, and may be Yahzarah's strongest ballad. Her soft, even voice shines as she expresses her thoughts on the beauty of love reincarnated. The Ballad of Purple Saint James is a noteworthy musical release, and a solid indicator of Yahzarah's ability to step out front, and hold her own in the music game.
