Fresh of off his recent BlackMagic release, José James is set to drop his first American album For All We Know on May 11th with help from Jef Neve. This track is the first single from that project. The album is a lot more Jazz-like and downtempo than BlackMagic and the manner in which it was recorded is the reason why.

For All We Know was, for the most part, recorded in a single informal six-hour session at Galaxy Studios in Mol, Belgium. James recalled the experience: %u201CIt felt like we%u2019d been playing together forever. I had the next day off, so I said %u2018Let%u2019s go in the studio and try to capture some of this vibe.%u2019 Jef booked this really nice studio, we let the tape roll, and that%u2019s the album. There was no producer, no overdubs, and most of the songs were first takes. It wasn%u2019t anything that we thought was gonna turn into a big release,%u201D he continues. %u201CIt was just something that we thought was really cool. We just played the songs we love the way we felt them, with no constraints. Playing as a duo is very pure and honest; it%u2019s just you, the piano and silence.%u201D
