I had the pleasure of being able to watch the Broadway Musical dedicated to Fela and his music earlier this week. To say that I was blown away would be an understatement. I have been listening to Fela music since I was a child and have always loved the lyrics and the arrangements of his songs. After watching the show I had a whole new appreciation for his music, particularly this album. Several of the tracks on it were included in the musical. I would go far as to say it almost functions as a soundtrack for the musical. This is a great introduction to Fela for those aren't familiar with his work. It's also a must have for Fela fans and any fan of real music.
