As a music lover it's pretty easy to be enamored with songs and completely forget about the persons that actually create them. Such is the case with a legendary artist such as Billie Holiday. Everybody knows the beautiful songs she created, and about how influential she has been to almost every female vocalist across all genres. But very few people actually know about her as a person and the demons she fought with. Her life was tragically short (She died when she was 44 years old), but during the course of it she wrestled with multiple abusive relationships, drug addiction and several arrests. I won't go into much details, but you can read her wikipedia page or google her for more information about her personal life. After finding out about her, songs like "Lady Sings The Blues" are even more poignant to me now. In the mean time enjoy some great music from her.
