The Alaskan born Filipino / Dutch singer is the closest thing the US has to UK singers such as Adele or Amy Winehouse. While being closer to Folk music than Soul, the Soul influence is undeniable. This is her sophomore album and it's definitely more popish and upbeat than her debut. Maybe because this album was released by Universal Republic and she's know being managed by Tommy Mottola's management company. Nevertheless it's still pretty solid.
