Now that the disclaimer is out there I'll talk about the album. It's very atmospheric and mostly slow going, but I wouldn't go so far as to describe it as depressing. It's more upbeat than say a Radiohead or Coldplay album, but more downbeat than a Santigold album. (Note that I haven't compared it to any Hip-Hop albums).
The musical landscape of the album is fantastic. In fact if Cudi never says a word I would be seriously contemplating giving it a five-star rating. That's not to say Cudi's verses or singing are horrible, but the music on this album is almost too good for anybody to match it lyrically.
It's a very personal album, with Cudi explaining various parts of himself and his experiences. At time he may actually be offering up too much of himself. From his parents to drug use and loneliness it's all here. Some will say he's a sensitive human being that's been through a lot. Others will say he just simply whines too much.
Lyrically it's pretty good, but suffers from the same flaw that Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak does...Cudi is not that great of a singer. He does however make up for that deficiency by using interesting cadences and flows. See "Up Up & Away" The few times that he actually delves into spitting Verses they are pretty good. See "Make Her Say".
Overall Man On The Moon: The End Of Day is a very solid album, that actually sounds even better at higher volumes. It's more melodic than lyrically and not for everybody, but everybody will at least enjoy the music.
