There however is something that troubles me deeply about this interview. I'm not sure who the interviewer is, but I am sure he's completely ignorant of the culture and musical genre of Hip Hop. Throughout the interview he infers that Hip Hop is all bad with statements such as "working with rap artists to change the message of rap itself" and questions if that is possible. He then goes on to ask if Amir were to return to making Hip Hop without the negative elements would it still be considered Hip Hop. Being a part of a religion and culture that is often misunderstood, one would think that there would have been at least some research conducted before the interview into the culture and music being discussed. Evidently this interview was not important enough to Al Jazeera to do so.
In an era filled with change and huge steps forward, this interview serves as a reminder that we still have a long way to go.
