My first introduction to Oceana came via her video for "Cry, Cry". As I watched it I remembered thinking, wow her sound is different and this video is very well done. Then I wondered how come I'd never heard of hear until now. A trip to her Myspace page soon provided me with an answer.

She is actually from Germany and is part of the new wave of European artists that have been providing us with "new" retro soul sound. Oceana's sound however differs in that it is heavily influenced by Reggae music, the result of having a father who is a musician of Caribbean descent.

The album varies in musical stylings & genres and has a few tracks with "colorful" language. It is an excellent debut album, with several songs that have been added to various playlists on my Ipod. I'm definietly looking forward to hearing more from her in the future.
