Epitome

With hip-hop in dire need of a new soul, Ced "Tha Arch Bishop" & Maza "The Messenger" have unearthed a catalogue of music baring theirs, enter Epitome.

Formed in the mid 90's, Epitome (Ced & Maza), has defined their style of music as being "bridge rap." The duo has always had a knack creating music that sparks the interest of otherwise disinterested patrons. This ability to connect with listeners in all markets has led to Epitome often being the lone hip-hop feature in several venue's and publications. Humbled by praise, Epitome remains focused on the execution of their craft.

Having toured with some of hip-hop's brightest wordsmith's, Epitome has graced the stage in venues that include Medger Evers College in Brooklyn, for their influential "Film & Culture" series, New York State's Binghamton University, Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, The Museum of the City of New York, and countless others. Often performing their hit singles "No Support" & "Pressure," in front of mixed crowds, Epitome's Maza has even performed a portion of their set in his native tongue of Creole. This level of intensity combined with an unrelenting work ethic has led to features in Grind Mode Magazine, freehiphopnow.com, rocdamic.com, several spots on CMJ's new music report, and Sirius Satellite Radio's "Sirius Hip-Hop Nation" show.

"It's all about averages, says the twenty something Maza. Ced and I stay on our grind."

That very same grind, along with moving 2000 plus copies of their 2002 project "Fight Club," led to the inevitable founding of EPE Entertainment, LLC, the duo's own label. "The purpose of EPE Entertainment is to provide us with a vehicle to release and control music we create", says Cedric who emphatically states that his initial intentions were never to start a record label.

Always active in the community that support's their music, Epitome has spoken and or performed in events sponsored by local churches, and non profit organizations such as Women in Hip Hop, CP3, and Street Sign Productions. These events were geared towards promoting awareness and education among children in impoverished and middle class areas across the tri state.
