M-1
Confidential

Average-ish: A few nuggets, but could be better.

For those of you that thought the release of Confidential, the solo album from M-1 signaled the breakup of probably the most underrated, and overlooked group in hip-hop, sorry to disappoint , Dead Prez is still very much together. The only thing the album signifies is the group's willingness to try new things in their quest to get the message out. The results are a less militant M-1 but the message remains the same, freedom at any cost from anyone viewed as an oppressor. M-1 has a few guest that appearances on the album, with the biggest shocker being Q-Tip (yes that Q-Tip) from A Tribe Called Quest and Cassandra Wilson on the same song "Love You Can't Borrow" Styles P from The Lox also trades verses with M-1 on the street anthem "Comrades Call". Other stand out tracks include "For You", "Early" featuring Stic Man, and "Land Bread and Housing" in which M-1 reminds us of his connection to Stic Man "I take this friendship over this rap shit any day, better revolutionary than a rapper anyway". Overall a good effort, could have gotten better beats for a few tracks but still a must have for Dead Prez fans.
